PAGE 8 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016 THE CALDWELL WATCHMAN--COLUMBIA, LOUISIANA pg 5 Shown are just a few of the nearly 300 people from New York to California and here at home who attended the Union Central School Reunion July 8-10, 2016 in Columbia and Monroe, Louisiana. Nearly 300 people from New York to California and here at home attended the Union Central School Reunion held July 8-10, 2016 in Columbia and Monroe, Louisiana. Activities included a Friday night reception and a Saturday morning breakfast on the Union Central campus. Mrs. Mae Stewart was recognized as the oldest participant at the reunion during the Saturday Morning breakfast.

The reunion activities then moved to the Monroe Civic center on Saturday night for an elegant banquet where Mrs. Lottie Haynes was honored as the 2nd oldest participant at the reunion. The Reunion concluded with a memorial service on Sunday morning at the Union Central Auditorium. Dorothy Hearns served as mistress of ceremonies. Reverend Billy Wooten was guest speaker.

Some of his accomplishments include retired U.S. Army, Field Artillery, 1st. Lieutenant; B.S. Accounting, Southern University; MBA, UCLA; CPA; and Masters of Divinity, Oral Roberts University. The Union Central Choir performed at the Sunday morning memo- rial service.

The choir was organized by Betty Robinson and Dorothy Hearns. Union Central veterans payed tribute to fallen alumni veterans. Taps was played by Rudolph Wade, retired U.S. Army Special Services, Vietnam. Veteran participants included Larry Fegans, Henry Wiley, John Miles, Fred Broadnax, Glen Knighten and Luna Hearns.

The Class of 1966 was present celebrating their 50th year anniversary as was the Class of 1967 with the most participants. Union Central Reunion Committee Members present included: George Williams, Charles Hearns, Dorothy Hearns, Henry Haynes, Roberta Gilbert, Mary Cooper, John Miles, Glen Knighten, Betty Robinson, Carolyn Daniels, Edward Gibson, John Harrell, Octavia Haynes, Hazel Holland, and Melvin Zimmerman. Former Union Central teachers present were Ruth Miles Casnave, Melva Davis Guillory, Henry Haynes, John Smith, Johnny McCaa, Dorothy Brown Yearby, Betty Robinson, Fannie Simmons, and Clothilde Burton Kaufman. Charles Hearns, reunion committee president indicated the reunion is held every three years and is for graduates and all those who attended or worked there. In keeping with tradition, the next reunion is scheduled for July, 2019.

Tucker was present in court for hearing of violation of probation on charges of simple burglary and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Probation officer recommended revocation. Court revoked probation. Original sentence to be imposed with credit for time served to any time related to these charges. There being no further business, court adjourned according to law.

Honorable Don C. Burns, Judge. On July 7, 2016 the 37th Judicial District Court opened pursuant to adjournment. Present and presiding were the Honorable James Boddie, Judge; Mr. Brian Frazier, District Attorney; Mr.

Chuck Cook, Assistant District Attorney; Glenn Belk, Deputy Sheriff; Aaron Faucett, Deputy Clerk of Court; Mich Kelly, Bailiff; and Marion Harrelson, Court Reporter. Jimmy R. Meadors was present in court for hearing on violation of probation on charge of 5 counts auto burglary. It is the sentence of the court that the original sentence be imposed with credit for time served for any time related to these charges. Defendant is alwo to get any substance abuse treatment available through DOC and once he becomes eligible for the work release probation that he be able to participate.
